About Central Lancaster High School

Central Lancaster High School is an Outstanding School.  A Full Service Extended School, it is part of the Lancaster Excellence Cluster.   The school operates in a system of selection, and, as a result, the profile of prior attainment by the students is below average.  Central Lancaster High School boasts many awards, including a Healthy School award and an Artsmark Gold Award.  It has also held International School Status since 2007.

A mentoring system ensures that each student receives the right levels of challenge, support and guidance to achieve their potential.   A wide curriculum is supported by a great number of extra curricular activities in order to develop the whole person.   In 2008, OFSTED praised the school’s ASPIRE programme (Academic Systems and Practice to Raise Esteem) which introduced a new approach to setting arrangements.  The Programme reduced class sizes and encouraged further improvement in the quality of students’ learning.
