Most of his current work involves helping primary and secondary schools in their development of AfL with APP. He regularly works with schools to use APP approaches and materials to inform their teaching and learning and develop a rich, challenging curriculum. The focus can be on reading, writing or speaking and listening. The emphasis of the support can be on enhancing teachers’ subject knowledge, developing their assessment expertise or raising standards of pupil achievement.

This year he has run an APP Lead Moderator training course accredited by the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors for a range of local authorities and school clusters which several hundred teachers and consultants have now successfully completed.
