Transitions EYFS-KS1

Build stronger links between the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1
Nurture confident, motivated children and effective early learning
Develop a monthly transition programme leading to an outstanding model


Based on the principles contained within case studies from outstanding settings and local authorities around England

Take the time to prepare children to move across phases to ensure confidence and motivation
The more time invested, the greater the opportunity for transitions to be positive
Understand the learning and developmental needs of 4 and 5 year old children

 

Practical tried and tested ways to improve experiences for all children

  • Plan a programme for seamless, smooth transition between R and KS1
  • Draw up a timetable - one visit to the next class is not enough
  • Support the less confident, SEN and EAL
  • Strategies for collaborative working with whole school, parents, children and staff
  • Audit current provision, and ensure the links between emotional wellbeing and child development sit well within the school transition process
  • Creative ideas that will support transition as a positive and exciting experience for children, staff ,parents and the school.
     

INSET

Transitions EYFS-KS1, along with all our courses, can be arranged for in-school training (INSET).

For each course we recommend trainer(s), but when arranging your INSET day, you can choose. For more information, contact our INSET department.
