Osiris Staffroom editorial article

That would be brilliant if what we already do is perfect, but perfect is quite an exacting word.

What if we are not quite perfect?

What if there are gaps in our skill set?

What if the data and Ofsted confirm our worst fears?

Here are three simple steps on your journey to perfection:

Step 1 — Obtain the knowledge

Read Osiris Staffroom, go on a course, talk to mentors, seek out best practice in your school, search, research, study Hattie and Dweck.

Step 2 — Practice the techniques

Try new, better ways of doing things; seek feedback from colleagues and pupils. Repeat new techniques over and over again to iterate your practice. Reflect and become reflexive. Collaborate professionally and grow your mindset.

Step 3 — Develop habits

Make these new ways your default habits. Abandon any other practice that is not perfect.

There you go: three easy steps to become perfect. Catch the habit. SR
