State of the Nation Survey by Osiris Educational

In 2013 Osiris Educational conducted a survey of over 2,000 educationalists. The results show that most changes have not had the positive effect many would have hoped for.

Pupil performance and Ofsted inspections are still seen as the key issues for many schools at present but schools are seen as better places now for pupils and CPD training is in a good place.

What are the key issues facing your school
in this academic year?

The biggest factors facing educationalists are pupil performance (22.6%) and Ofsted inspections (19.2%). The survey shows that the behaviour of pupils (6.7%) and pupil numbers (6.0%) are less of an issue which is good news but work still to be done.

68% of respondents feel that schools are better or the same for parents. Whilst the main focus is clearly going to be on pupils and staff; improving the experience for parents is proven as a benefit for the learning experience overall.

What has been the impact of the below on your job?

These graphs (click to view larger image) clearly show the little impact felt by educationalists in some of the key issues. Whilst the overwhelming majority had a neutral response the lack of positive answers is startling. Changes to Ofsted had the strongest negative response followed by performance related pay. SR
