Visible Learningplus is a long-term professional learning and whole-school change programme that is based upon the research of Professor John Hattie.
It is driven by the belief that if we become learners of our own teaching and support students in developing the skills to be their own teacher, we provide the greatest opportunity to enhance achievement.
The programme is based upon the premise that every student should experience at least one year’s growth over the course of one school year.
So how do we achieve this? This transformative programme, based on Professor John Hattie’s internationally-renowned research (Visible Learning, published in 2009 and Visible Learning for Teachers, published in 2012) is an in-depth model of change exploring how to use evidence to ensure high impact in the learning environment. Hattie’s 20 years of research – a synthesis of more than 800 meta-analyses – is regarded as the most significant evidence-based research into what actually works best in schools to improve learning.
Within this website, you will learn about schools across the country that are developing visible learners who can articulate what they are learning, how they are learning, and where they are going next on their learning journey. Most importantly, you will see how Visible Learningplus functions as a system response to achievement at both the school and group level, harnessing the collaborative energy of educators to maximise the impact on student achievement.
