James was a pupil who fell through the gap, leaving school with poor grades and two expulsions to his name. He has since been on a mission to understand how better to provide for all students. Along the way, he has worked closely with professors Carol Dweck (Growth Mindset) and John Hattie (Visible Learning); been a teaching assistant in a school for deaf children; taught across the 3-19 age range and held a range of school and district leadership positions.
Today, he teaches, leads demonstration lessons, gives keynotes, and works longer-term with schools to identify the small adjustments that can be made to significantly improve learning. His twelfth book, Teach Brilliantly, covers topics including efficacy, engagement, questioning, feedback, high expectations and equity. More information about James can be found at LearningPit.org.
