Alice Washbourne

An Osiris Outstanding Teaching Intervention trainer and published author, Alice has specialist knowledge of literacy across the curriculum and EAL.

With more than 30 years of experience in teaching, leadership, teacher development and school improvement in schools across London, Alice has a proven track record of raising pupil attainment at every level of education. Armed with her knowledge of the very latest Ofsted policy changes, she has a deep understanding of the rigors of inspection day, and knows what schools can do to ensure a stress-free inspection.

Alice has worked as an EAL and Literacy Coordinator, a KS3/4 English and Literacy consultant, and as an Advisor for Equalities and Achievement for schools in Lewisham. She has worked extensively with leaders at all levels of education to develop and implement high-quality support for EAL learners vulnerable to underachievement.

Alice uses her coaching skills to develop teaching practice by encouraging reflection, effective questioning and shared planning. Her training is always interactive, engaging and steeped in effective practice for the modern classrooms. Her areas of expertise include:

Using a range of techniques, assessments and feedback, the Outstanding Teaching Intervention is designed to create long-term, measurable improvements to teaching and learning. It has been independently proven to raise teacher performance by one Ofsted level.
